We are Verbum Dei, a Catholic Missionary Community in Chicago. We bear the Living Word of God through the charism of prayer and preaching. Our world is evolving so fast that there is an urgency to respond according to the needs of all walks of life. We provide the space for people to have a personal Encounter with Jesus Christ through the School of the Word, retreats and other initiatives. Our very diverse groups: English, Polish, Hispanic and Filipino communities, are very welcoming and will suit your spiritual needs. You’ll never walk alone wherever you are. The Verbum Dei Missionary Family can be found in many parts of the world. We act on a global scale, but we respond on a local scale! Come and be part of this wonderful adventure!
In our life’s journey, we have a need to listen to the Good News about the Love of God expressed in the person of Jesus Christ. This happens in the spaces of individual encounters, dialogues, story-telling, accompaniment and welcoming community events.
A space where we are invited to enter into the reality of the Presence of God, through faith, simplicity, and silence. It is where we listen to the Word of God attentively, immerse ourselves in it, and walk with others through mutual sharing.
A unique, longer space of time, dedicated to the powerful experience of encounter with yourself and with God. It can be a day retreat, a weekend, or even a week.
As friends of Jesus, we look to accompany Him in His mission. Those who experience the joy of receiving ‘from’ Him, look for the joy of giving ‘with’ Him.
